The Importance of Air Duct Maintenance

May 11, 2017

Regular heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance involves cleaning ducts and vents, which requires the use of air duct cleaning equipment. Air duct cleaning hosts a number of benefits that include prolonging the life of your HVAC system, reducing the dust in your house and filtering indoor air. Some of the equipment used may be truck-mounted or portable.

Truck-mounted air duct cleaning equipment is very powerful and takes an average of two to three hours to clean a mid-size house. Portable equipment is not as powerful and may take much longer to complete the cleaning process. The use of portable equipment may, in the long run, be more expensive due to extra time required.

Air duct cleaning equipment includes access equipment, cleaning tools and inspection systems.

Access Tools

I like to spend my time in the lab doing different interesting researches. But, when I need to write my research paper for me I feel dissapointed. I don't like to do such tasks so prefer to use students' services to do my homework.

Access tools are used to create points of entry in the ductwork to facilitate cleaning.  The entry points enable internal imaging and accommodation of personnel and other equipment. Access tools protect the duct and the machine from damage because they offer secure attachment to the duct work.

Cleaning Tools

Cleaning tools are used to remove the waste material and debris from the walls of the duct work into collection bags. They include skipper balls, pneumatic agitation tools, brushes, vacuums and air compressors. Agitation devices are used to dislodge the dirt from the ducts while vacuums suck the dirt out of the vents into the collection devices. Vacuums that cost less usually provide less suction and more labour for a job. Therefore, it is important to consider more powerful tools that get the work done quickly and effectively.

Inspection Systems

Designed to work alongside cleaning equipment, inspection systems such as cameras are able to show the cleaning progress, indicating areas that require further cleaning and those that have already been properly cleaned. This system improves the quality of the work done, significantly improves the ability to clean and saves time.
